*********NEW SECURITY PROCEDURES********

In an effort to expand security protocols and enhance safety initiatives across the district, new screening procedures have been implemented for all district functions, including graduation exercises. The new security protocols are for the benefit of our students, staff and all attendees, and to keep pace with evolving best practices at public gatherings around the country.

Screening areas will be set at the entrances to the Savannah Civic Center.  Bags will be searched and those entering will be screened using metal detectors.  If necessary, additional screening may be conducted.  Clear bags will be required as well.  Each person is allowed one (1) clear plastic bag and one (1) small clutch. Size requirements and exceptions are attached below.  Because of these additional safety procedures, we encourage those attending graduation ceremonies to arrive early to allow extra time before entrance to the facility.  Allowing extra time is especially important as doors will close ten minutes prior to each ceremony and no further guests will be admitted.  If you arrive after the doors have closed, there will be overflow viewing areas provided for attendees to watch the ceremony. ALL attendees must have a ticket to enter the venue.

We appreciate your cooperation and continued support in our work to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time at our district graduation ceremonies.

Handicap Access: Staff members will assist guests who need to be seated in accessible seating areas. The Savannah Civic Center provides security to assist with guests who need to use the accessible lift located after entering the west lobby arena doors to the arena floor.

Any individuals with the media must have SCCPSS provided identification.  No one will be allowed on the floor without proper clearance and identification.  Media clearance must be obtained through the Office of Public Information at (912) 395-5538.

Doors open for ticket holders one hour before the start of the graduation.

Please arrive early to park in the lots adjacent to the civic center located at 301 W. Oglethorpe St. Savannah, Georgia 31401. Driving Directions and Parking.

The Savannah Civic Center parking lot is available at no charge on a first come, first served basis.  Parking garages are available on Liberty Street and on Montgomery Street, as well as in other downtown locations to include the Savannah Visitor Information Center.

Additional Parking with Shuttle Service is available for all graduation ceremonies at the Early Learning Center at Henderson E. Formey, Jr. School located at 400 East Broad Street.  Shuttles will run each day of Graduation between the lot at East Broad K8 and the Civic Center from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
