Announcements: Garrison K8 Performing Arts Center Groundbreaking Ceremony

Garrison K8 Performing Arts Center Groundbreaking Ceremony

On Thursday, May 12, 2016, district officials, school board representatives, school faculty, staff, and students gathered to celebrate the beginning of construction for the Garrison K8 Performing Arts Center Groundbreaking Ceremony. The ESPLOST II funded project provides for the design and construction of a new performance center on the existing site..

The project will contain close to 600 seats in an addition that will complement Garrison. It will boast a state of the art sound control room, 3,251 square foot performance stage and lighting, theater and band classrooms, a piano lab, chorus classroom, set design space and a box office. The facility's targeted completion date is the Summer of 2017.

Students were heavily involved with this program. Chase Lanier, Student Council President, Adam Davis, and Veronica Moore led the Pledge of Allegiance. The Garrison K8 School Band performed the National Anthem. Garrison's 5th - 8th Grade Chorus serenaded the audience with a selection entitled "Give Us Hope".

Mr. James Heater, Garrison's principal, shared his excitement about the initiative. District 3 School Board Representative, Cornelia Hall, and Superintendent Dr. Thomas B. Lockamy, Jr. all expressed their heartfelt sentiments about this momentous occasion.
