Announcements: Ribbon Cutting for the New Haven Elementary School!

Ribbon Cutting for the New Haven Elementary School!

Recently, the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System marked the completion of the new Haven Elementary School facility. The ESPLOST II funded project will accommodate up to 650 students.

The old Haven facility opened in 1963. The school was a staple in the community for education. Present and former students, staff, community members, and elected officials attended the ceremony to celebrate the occasion.

Haven Elementary School is a beautiful, modern new school standing on the grounds of the former facility. Along with a two-story side, the building includes extensive classroom space, a media center, music and art rooms, a gymnasium and a cafeteria. Haven will be open for students on the first day of school, Thursday, August 3, 2017.

Dionne Young, Haven's principal, expressed how excited she was to see this dream come to life. District 5 School Board Representative, Ms. Irene Hines, Mrs. Cornelia Hall, School Board Vice President, and Superintendent Dr. Ann Levett all shared their joy and anticipation for what is to come from the new school. Some of the students were instrumental as the lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. Dedrick Clark, transportation manager, belted out the National Anthem.

From the demolition of the old facility to the opening of the new building, the rich tradition and stories of success for Haven Elementary School are only getting better!
