The Department of Mathematics at Georgia Southwestern State University hosts a yearly tournament for high school students from throughout the state; this tournament brings hundreds of students to the campus in the early spring each year to compete with one another. Teachers from across the state select a minimum of four and a maximum of eight outstanding mathematics students from each school to participate. This year there were 42 teams and over 400 students in attendance.
In the school’s introductory entry into this competition, the School of Liberal Studies at Savannah High school placed 3rd in the GHSA 3AAA Division. The team consist of the following students: Tony Roberson, Brittany Watts, Seth Porras, Teneisha Jackson, Makayla Roberts, Willie Wilkins and Brooklyn Kearse.
Brittany Watts also placed 3rd on the individual portion of the competition. The team is coached by Leslie Anderson.
