Nineteen Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools participated in district level competition for the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl this year. The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl requires students to read the 20 books nominated for Georgia’s Peach Book Award and answer questions about the books in a fast-paced quiz bowl format. School teams work together to prepare for the competition after reading the books individually.
Savannah Arts Academy, Woodville Tompkins, Hesse K-18, and Garrison School for the Arts represented SCCPSS in the South Regional Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl held in Valdosta on February 10th. Savannah Arts Academy and Woodville Tompkins Technical and Career High School finished first and second respectively in the Southern Region. They then competed in the Division 2 reading bowl being held Saturday, March 3rd at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.
Congratulations to all our district winning teams! Thank you for your hard work and preparation!
