The Chatham-Savannah Youth Futures Authority along with Savannah Youth Council, Chatham County Youth Commission, Savannah Chatham County Public Schools and many other community organizations are presenting the Teen Maze.
The Teen Maze is a life size interactive exercise where youth and teenagers act as the pawns and life’s choices are the dice! It is designed to help youth and teens better understand potential outcomes to life decisions concerning vocational/educational issues, sex, substance abuse, violence, and crime. Realistic scenarios help teens navigate their way through the Maze and find out about consequences of behaviors. Eight grade students and above are welcome to attend this event, March 26 – 29, at the Air National Guard Armory on Eisenhower Drive from 8:30-1:30.
Objectives:
• To promote the importance of timely high school graduation
• To stimulate youth to think about the potential consequences of every choice they make regarding issues that include sex, dating, violence, crime, drug/alcohol use, vocation and education
• To provide accurate facts and information to youth without attached value judgments
• To encourage discussion between parents and their youth regarding values and expectations
• To promote community collaboration on youth well being
• To increase awareness in the community about youth issues
• To involve the adults in the community in saying “we value our children.”
