The Savannah Arts Academy’s Theatre Department presents “A Festival of One Acts” a series of student directed, performed, and produced one act plays.  The event will take place on Wednesday, May 23 and Thursday, May 24 at 7:00pm at 500 Washington Avenue.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens; they can be purchased in advance at the school box office beginning Monday, May 21 from 9:00am – 2:00pm.  Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

Students from all of the theatre classes will direct, perform, and produce 6 plays over 2 nights. Over 90 students will be involved in this performance. They will perform the following plays: on May 23: Epic Fail, and Lockdown, on May 24: Just Like I Wanted and Aliens and Cheerleaders.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the student trip to the American High School Theatre Festival being held in Edinburgh, Scotland this summer. This festival is part of the international Edinburgh Fringe Festival held every year. Savannah Arts Academy is one of 50 high schools from across the United States and Canada selected for this honor. This is the second time Savannah Arts Academy’s theatre department has been invited to participate. Students and their families have been engaged in a variety of fundraising activities throughout this school year.
