A town hall meeting will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Woodville-Tompkins Technical & Career High School, located at 151 Coach Joe Turner Street in Savannah.  District 8 School Board representative, Ms. Ruby Jones, will host the meeting which is scheduled to being at 6:00pm.

The meeting will begin with a brief introduction that will include facts about Savannah-Chatham schools, plus a discussion on the new cohort graduation rate, the topic of literacy, lexile scores, and the gateway promotion requirements for grades 2, 4, and 7.  Other topics include an update on the construction of the Alfred Ely Beach High School and a review of the new High School Attendance Zone.  Students who will be re-zoned from Groves and Beach High will gain a preview of the New Hampstead High School.

Ms. Jones will be joined by Thomas B. Lockamy Jr. Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools.  Additional administrative staff, along with the principals from District 8 schools, will also be available to provide information and answer questions.

The meeting is open to the public and parents are encouraged to attend.
