The featured student of the month was able to overcome test anxiety through Peer Mediation and gymnastics and has excelled in her school work - specifically in the area of mathematics!  She is highly active in Peer Mediation, Pooler Recreation Gymnastics, Girls on the Run, and is an active participant at her church.  This student has perfect attendance and achieved academic success as a High Honor Roll student, Top Accelerated Reader Girl, and she placed third in the 2011 Science Fair.  She is a very determined individual who will work hard and do her best in whatever she does.  Her teachers describe her as a polite, caring, and an outstanding young lady who strives to achieve at high levels.  She enjoys helping others as well as learning from those around her. 

When asked what motivates her for success, she replied, "I want to get good grades and be successful, because I want to feel happy and good about accomplishing something.  I also get a crab leg dinner when I bring home a good report card!"  The Superintendent’s Student of the Month for May is Arielle Mehne (May-Knee), a fourth grade student from West Chatham Elementary School.
