Eight students from Beach High School participated in the 2012 Student Educational Enrichment Program (SEEP). The Office of Diversity Affairs, Medical College of Georgia (Georgia Health Sciences University) partnered with Savannah State University and Beach High School to offer the Student Educational Enrichment Program (SEEP). Students will participate in a Closing Awards Ceremony on Friday July 27, 2012 on Savannah State University’s Campus.

SEEP program participants were enrolled in a college level, introductory biology course with hands-on labs. The students have earned 4-hours of college credit. In addition, each participant was engaged in a research project with topics ranging from chemical receptors for memory loss, alcoholism, and drug addiction to gene therapy. The research projects were offered through a partnership with the faculty of Savannah State University’s College of Science and Technology.
The banquet celebrates the historic partnership between the Office of Diversity Affairs in the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Health Sciences University, Beach High School, and Savannah State University College of Sciences and Technology, and demonstrates the shared commitment to diversifying the pipeline of health care professionals.
