Announcements: Gadsden Elementary Holds Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Title

Gadsden Elementary Holds Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Body

In a recent ribbon cutting ceremony the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System marked the opening of the new Robert W. Gadsden Elementary School.  Members of the public, elected officials, descendents of the late Robert W. Gadsden, Gadsden students, staff and faculty, SCCPSS Administration, and members of the Savannah-Chatham County Board of Public Education were all present to acknowledge the dedicated individuals committed to the on-time completion of this brand new, multi-million dollar facility.  SGT Gregory G. Procopio Jr. and SGT Darius V. Estell, of Hunter Army Airfield, were also on hand to participate in the ceremony and officially raise the school’s flag.

This ESPLOST funded project boasts over 91,000 square feet and will welcome students to the start of the new 2012-2013 school year.  This brand new, facility will house 43 classrooms, music and art classrooms, computer and technology labs, a gymnasium, cafeteria, and media center, all designed with energy efficiency in mind.

Gadsden Elementary is a Title 1 Distinguished School, located on the corner of Gwinnett and May Street, and will continue to serve PK-5th grade students who reside within the surrounding community and the supporting attendance zone.
