Please join the teachers, students, and parents of the Reading on Grade Level Camp for their end of camp Parent Celebration on Thursday, August 2nd from 5:00pm-6:00pm at Haven Elementary School. The initiative, which started on July 2nd, has been taking place at Haven Elementary School and students from five schools including, East Broad Street K-8 School, Gadsden, Haven, Hodge, and Spencer Elementary schools, were active participants.
The program’s primary objective is for all students to become successful readers by the end of the third grade. Students who are proficient readers at a young age are more likely to experience educational success in the future. Specially selected consultants from the Atlanta Speech School Rollins Center for Language and Learning worked with teachers to instill practices they can use throughout the year.
The Reading on Grade Level Camp also held a parent academy each Thursday evening. At the parent academy, the consultants provided parents with tips on how to help their children succeed in all reading endeavors. This Thursday, August 2nd is the final Parent Academy. For more information call Haven Elementary at 912-395-6501 between the hours of 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM and ask for Kelli Hamilton.
