Current Opportunities

Humane Society is looking for volunteers for Doggie Carnival Sunday, May 6th in Forsyth Park and we are looking to fill the following shifts:
7-11am for setup
11-4pm for the event
4-7pm for break down

Students between ages 14-16 must have parent with them. Must email by May 2nd to volunteer. There will also a Doggie Carnival orientation on Thursday, May 3rd at 5:30pm in the front of the Forsyth Park Café (621 Drayton St. in Forsyth Park). The intention of this orientation is to familiarize everyone with the layout, where you check in, the setup, dress code and what to expect the day of the event to minimize confusion day of.

Autism Fun Day at Horsin Around. 8:30-12:30.  Sat May 5. Volunteers must fill out registration form.

The Wilmington Island Farmers' Market brings fresh produce, delicious food and hand-crafted artisan creations to our community every Saturday. Now through June 30, the Wilmington Island Farmers' Market will be open for local families to enjoy and the community to gather.

Volunteers are needed most for the Kids Club, where children require supervision and assistance coloring, creating and playing fun games. Other volunteer opportunities include preparing the market for the arrival of special guests, assisting with exciting events -- $1 hot dog days, fundraisers and special performances -- and closing the market after a successful day. Davenport House Summer Interpreter Program for 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students.  Click here for more info on orientation date and contact number for students to register.   

The Davenport House Museum offers its Junior Interpreter training program during summer.  The goal is to train interested high school students to become volunteer tour guides at the historic house museum.  During training, students learn tour giving techniques as well as the history of the museum and the history of Savannah. 

To qualify a student must like history, be willing to abide by the museum’s rules and have a desire to contribute to his or her community through volunteer service.  For information about the Davenport House Junior Interpreter Program, please contact Jamie Credle at the Davenport House at 912/236-8097 or email to
