Savannah is a very diverse community and includes families from at least seventy-five nations. Their children may attend schools that have programs specifically designed to assist with learning the English language. The goal of the Savannah Chatham County Public School's English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program is to provide equal educational opportunities to students who have a primary or home language other than English and who are Limited English Proficient (LEP). The primary focus is to provide an English-rich environment so that students will become proficient in English as soon as possible.

There are five ESOL centers in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System which separately serve elementary, middle, and high school students. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade may attend May Howard Elementary, Port Wentworth Elementary, or Windsor Forest Elementary Schools. Older students may attend West Chatham Middle School or Groves High School.
