What is the Criteria for Gifted Education Placement?
SSCPSS Implementation of State Board of Education Rule 160-4-2-.38
· Students must be enrolled in the Savannah-Chatham Public Schools to be tested for the SCCPSS Gifted Program.
· The student must qualify in three of the four categories.
· Information will be gathered in each of the four categories.
· Any piece of information used to establish eligibility shall be current within two years.
· Data gathered and analyzed by a source outside the school system shall be used only in the mental ability or achievement categories.
· Any data used in one area to establish a student’s eligibility shall not be used in any other category.

- K-2, 99th percentile composite score on a nationally normed mental ability test
- 3-12, > 96th percentile composite score on a nationally normed mental ability test

6-12, 90th percentile creativity score on a gifted evaluation scale, only if grade point average was the criteria for eligibility in motivation .
Alternative:
Superior product/performance with a score of > 90 on a scale of 1-100, as evaluated by a panel of three or more qualified evaluators, indicated by K-12 winner of a regional level or higher competition.
