Georgia Special Needs Scholarship Program (Senate Bill 10)
Annual Notice to Parents of Students with IEPs

May 2017

The Georgia Special Needs Scholarship (Senate Bill 10), which was signed into law in May 2007, provides parents of students with disabilities who are enrolled in Georgia public schools and have an active Individualized Education Program (IEP), the opportunity to transfer their children to another public school or to a state approved participating private school in Georgia.

Parents/Guardians who intend to take advantage of the Special Education-Special Needs Scholarship Program for transfer within district, must complete an application through the Department for Exceptional Children office located at the Savannah-Chatham County Board of Education, 208 Bull Street, Savannah, Georgia. Please download and complete the Local Transfer Form  below. If approved, parents are responsible for providing transportation to the selected school. 

The window period for Senate Bill 10 will open on May 1, 2017 and applications for the 2017-2018 school year will be available for within-district transfer at that time.
