Georgia Special Needs Scholarship Program (Senate Bill 10)
Annual Notice to Parents of Students with IEPs

May 2018

The Georgia Special Needs Scholarship (Senate Bill 10), which was signed into law in May 2007, provides parents of students with disabilities who are enrolled in Georgia public schools and have an active Individualized Education Program (IEP), the opportunity to transfer their children to another public school or to a state approved participating private school in Georgia.

Parents/Guardians who intend to take advantage of the Special Education-Special Needs Scholarship Program for transfer within district, must complete an application through the Department of Specialized Instruction office located at the Savannah-Chatham County Board of Education, 208 Bull Street, Savannah, Georgia. Please download and complete the Local Transfer Form  below. If approved, parents are responsible for providing transportation to the selected school.

SB 10 Public School Transfer Request

The window period for Senate Bill 10 opens May 1 through May 25, 2018 and applications for the 2018-2019 school year will be available for within-district transfer at that time.
