The mission of Academic Affairs is to set the agenda and guide the work of school and classroom staff to become successful in ensuring that all students meet or exceed academic standards.
Although we have made significant achievement gains, we are not resting on our success and continue to move forward with the same momentum and zeal that started us on a cycle of continuous improvement.
Every child possesses the innate ability to learn and it is our challenge as parents, educators and community to find strategies to ensure that learning continuously takes place in every setting.
The standards have been set for what is expected of our students, and it is our work to use them in a variety of frameworks to guide their teaching and learning experiences. This framework for reform is best defined as our goal of developing standards-based schools and an authentic learning organization.
Our improvement efforts are focused on three key areas that are defined as "Units of Change" to center the efforts of schools in planning improvements. These are:
- Climate in our schools
- Curriculum (what is taught); Instruction (how it is taught) and Assessment (how we know that students acquired the learning that was intended),
- Culture of Learning and Continuous Improvement - Everyone in the school community is always learning to improve their knowledge and skills.
Academic Affairs: Providing leadership and guidance to our district and schools in pursuit of academic excellence as we collectively address the unique educational needs of all students.
