Hello and welcome!
As an instructional technology coach, I help teachers get inspired, find resources and design the best possible learning experiences for students. Currently, I partner with teachers at 5 high schools and 2 middle schools. To me, being a coach means assisting teachers to accomplish the many roles of an educator. It also means helping test and evaluate and share tools that help students become critical thinkers.
As a disengaged middle and high schooler myself, I believe it’s mission critical to make schools a place where students love to learn. To me this means giving students a reason to learn, giving them choices about how they learn, giving them a sense of belonging and instilling excitement about what they can contribute to our community and the world. These beliefs guide my day-to-day work.
You may be interested to know that instructional technology coaches aren’t necessarily the most “tech savvy” people in the room. In the past, I found technology intimidating and struggled to navigate computers, smartphones, and other gadgets. Gradually, I changed my approach to problem solving, and that small mind shift made all the difference in the world. Here are a few mottos I follow that help me as a teacher and support specialist.
Below are some of my favorite resources for teaching and learning. I hope you’ll find some of them useful.
Where there is a will, there is a way.
There is more than one way to solve a problem or accomplish a task.
Professional learning networks are powerful supports. Invest time in at least one.
Invest in time to tinker. Trying new things keeps you fit for learning.
