How do I apply for substitute positions with SCCPSS?
Please visit the Career Opportunities page at www.sccpss.com and select the Job Openings link to complete the online application. You must use a valid email address when applying for a substitute position. All approved applicants will be notified via email to attend the mandatory substitute orientation with the date and location.
I am a retired educator/previous employee from SCCPSS and I want to work as a substitute. Do I need to complete an online application? Yes. We prefer that our retired educators/previous employees complete an online application for substitute teaching so that we can notify them of the substitute orientation.
What if I want to work in more than one school? Do I have to apply for each school individually?
No. Once your application is complete and you are approved to sub, you are eligible to work at any school in the district provided you remain in good standing. But remember, substitutes work on an as-needed basis and are not guaranteed employment.
I submitted an application, but have not yet heard back. Who should I contact?
Unfortunately, due to the large volume of applications we receive, we are unable to respond personally to all applicants. However all approved applicants will receive a confirmation email to attend the substitute orientation shortly after the closing date of the job announcement. If you do not receive a confirmation email to attend the orientation it is because your application was not approved because you did not meet the qualifications of the position. It is important that applicants complete the application accurately and thoroughly to be considered.
Do I need to bring any paperwork to the orientation? No. Human Resources will provide you with all the information you will need at the orientation to include an appointment date to submit your paperwork to Human Resources. You may want to bring a pen and a notebook to take notes during the orientation.
