Potrait of Janice Gordon

The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System 2016 Instructional Support Person of the Year Banquet took place at 6:30pm on May 14th at Woodville-Tompkins Technical and Career High School. The SCCPSS recognizes support staff such as nurses, paraprofessionals, custodians, cafeteria workers, media clerks, counselor clerks, and secretaries.

Out of 51 school nominees, we are proud to announce that Janice Gordon, a paraprofessional at Groves High School, has been selected as the district’s ISPY for 2016!

Ms. Gordon was selected for this honor based on her professional experience, professional development activities, her dedication to the advancement of education, and her community involvement. She knows that earning the trust of her students leads to academic support and an increase in their academic achievement.
In addition to volunteering as an art director at various Vacation Bible School locations, Ms. Gordon wears many other hats. She has worked in the school system for more than 20 years. Ms. Gordon has served as a parent mentor, after school coordinator, cheerleader coach/coordinator, PTO President, youth advocate, and much more. She’s completed her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and is working towards a Master’s degree in Public Administration. In all of this, Ms. Gordon believes her greatest reward is seeing her students succeed. Her passion is indeed helping our children.
