What is the D.A.R.E. Program?

Drug Abuse and Resistance Education. This program teaches kids how to say "NO" when confronted with a drug situation.

What is Eddie Eagle?

This is a gun safety program geared towards the younger school age children.

What is Youth Crime Watch?

This program gives kids the tools and guidance necessary to actively reduce crime and drug use in their school and neighborhood. It helps to provide positive values, to motivate toward responsible action and to build self confidence. The goal is to empower kids to become personally resourceful and responsible for community crime prevention needs. It helps to reduce the "need" for gang participation by giving a positve sense of belonging to a group. And it opens the lines of communication between kids and law enforcement. Our YCW groups have sponsered Blood Drives, cleaned up neighborhoods/school yards and visited the sick and elderly. Also, this program gives them Community Service Credits needed for graduation.

What is Second Chance for Youth?

This program is geared towards the 4 needs of youth (social, service, academic and athletic). It provides tutoring for schoolwork, provides a sense of belonging to an "elite" group, rewards kids with social and athletic events and provides motivation to keep kids in school. School officials identify kids that are AT RISK and nominate them for membership.

What is an SRO?

School Resource Officers are officers that are certified by Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and have completed Police Academy training. Their main responsibility is to ensure the safety and security on school campus in support of the principal. They also enforce the laws of Georgia and school board policies and procedures.
