Manufacturing
The Goods Producing segments provide a solid base for the Savannah-Chatham industry mix. Data from the Georgia Department of Labor, updated June 4, 2010, shows that the 922 Goods-Producing establishments employed over 18,000 people, in which the Construction and Manufacturing industries encompass the highest number of establishments. 685 establishments in the Construction industry employ over 5,900 people, while the 219 establishments in the Manufacturing industry employ over 11,000 people.

The largest area of employment falls to the Service Providing segment where over 92,000 people are employed. Within this segment the Retail Trade and Food Service industries make up the highest number of establishments. 1,189 establishments in the Retail Trade industry employ over 14,000 people, while the 816 establishments in the Food Service industry employ over 16,000 people. It is important to note that while the amount of establishments in the Health Care industry is less than that of Retail Trade and Food Service, it employs the most in this segment with 16,978 people employed at over 666 establishments.
