The Beach High Bulldogs will soon have a new home! In an exciting moment during the month of August 2011, community members witnessed a historical moment, as a new page was turned in the rich history of Beach High School. Many city, county, and state officials, including Beach High School Alumni, parents, and students came together for a groundbreaking ceremony that would officially mark the start of construction for the new Beach High School.
When finished, this ESPLOST funded project will provide more than 200,000 square feet of space for students and faculty. The construction will occur in two phases to include the following:
Phase 1 Construction: Includes a new multi-story academic wing, a two story wing which will contain the administrative operations and media center, a large open student dining area and kitchen, a 2000 seat gymnasium with locker rooms, training facilities, and a large open-air plaza. Also included is a new entrance loop from 48th Street. The academic wing will consist of four distinct centers: the Ninth Grade Wing, the Business Wing, the Liberal Arts Wing, and the Medical and Allied Health Academy.
Phase 2 Construction: Renovations of the current media center and gymnasium, new football and baseball/softball athletic fields, and faculty and student parking. The existing media center will be renovated into the Medical and Allied Health Academy, associated science labs and classrooms. The existing gymnasium will be renovated into a multipurpose facility for band, chorus, drama, and ROTC.
