
Just in time for the start of the 2011-2012 school year, the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System marked the opening of the new J.H.C. Butler Elementary School! The August 16, 2011 ribbon cutting ceremony was celebrated by city officials, SCCPSS Board members, District officials, faculty, staff and many community members.
The new multi-million dollar ESPLOST funded facility provides more than 89,500 square feet of space for students and faculty. The facility houses 38 classrooms, which includes a music and art classroom, as well as a computer technology lab. Also included is a 3,258 square feet Media Center and supporting areas, 4,950 square feet physical education facility a full size gymnasium and a cafeteria for after school programs. A stage is also included in the cafeteria for production as well as assemblies.
J.H.C. Butler Elementary is a Title I Distinguished School and serves PreK-5 students who reside within the Cloverdale community and the supporting attendance zone.
