MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Maintenance and Operations Department is to provide buildings and grounds that are clean, aesthetic, functional, and safe.

Welcome to Savannah/Chatham County Public School System’s Maintenance & Operations web page. The department of Maintenance & Operations provides services to 55 educational facilities and 4 support facilities. This includes over 5.5 million square feet of physical plant, 316 portable classrooms and 1267 acres of property. The services provided positively impact the education of over 36,000 students each day.

The responsibility of maintaining the District’s facilities requires the Department to provide a wide range of services. Some of these responsibilities are easily noticed, such as lawn care, painting or repairing broken fixtures. However, we also pride ourselves in the work which goes unnoticed. Preventative maintenance, changing air filters and cleaning roofs are just a few of our equally important tasks. These items lead to a reduction in major unscheduled repairs.
