Duties and Responsibilities
Student Resource Officers
Student Resource Officers are located in all high schools, middle schools, K-8 school and Alternative schools. They are actively involved with students by acting as mentors who keep all students and staff safe. All campus activity during the regular day and after school activities involve the SRO interacting with their students in a "professionally friendly" atmosphere. Several of our SRO helps to confront the issue of bullying/harassment with school counselors. They also encourage students to act responsibly on and off campus.
The Patrol Unit is equipped with five men who are responsible for checking school site on nights and weekends. The unit ensures asset protection, and to assist with students not returning home from school.
Campus Police conducts two truancy sweeps per year. Officers partner with school social workers on home visits to assist with the truancy issue. The primary goal of truancy sweeps is to check on students who are consistently not in school while ensuring all students attend school consistenly.
