Lily Russ

Lily Russ

 Largo-Tibet Elementary School

Lily Russ is from Milledgeville, Georgia and has called Savannah home for the last six years. She graduated from Georgia Military College Preparatory High School and attended Central Georgia Technical College where she received a degree in Early Childhood Education and Care, a certificate in infant/toddler development, and a technical certification in early childhood care and education. She is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree. Her goals are to become an elementary media specialist.

Ms. Russ’ career with children began when she had the opportunity to work with children at her local church’s vacation Bible school program. She credits this opportunity with the spark that lead her to the education field. Ms. Russ has been a tutor, paraprofessional, a daycare/preschool teacher, daycare assistant, and will be entering her third year as a family engagement facilitator.

Ms. Russ believes that learning begins at birth and our first teachers are our parents. She creates engaging opportunities for families to learn ways they can help their child succeed. She has a passion for communication between the school and families. Ms. Russ is the head of the communication team, sends out newsletters, event planning, and social media outlets for the school.

Ms. Russ is on the Leadership team, Lighthouse team, attendance committee, communication team, school council, PTA board, Sunshine committee board, and the leader of the community involvement action team. She is always willing to lend a helping hand when it is needed!

Ms. Russ believes that when you provide families with the correct resources and opportunities they need, you strengthen the overall student. Helen Keller said, “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” Ms. Russ makes sure that education is a community effort and everyone is involved in the success of our students.
