Welcome
Bartow Elementary School's Mathematics, Technology, and Design (MTD) Academy is a program that provides a rich, interactive environment for students that relates their daily lives to their hands-on learning experiences. Monthly theme-based projects are integrated with the Georgia Performance Standards and the MTD curriculum that drives the focus of the academy. Design technology is weaved throughout the areas of mathematics, science, and technology in every classroom. Students have the opportunity to explore aspects of fashion, interior design, architecture, landscaping, and other areas of design. Various artistic mediums are provided to aid students as they plan, create, and construct. Real world math solutions provide opportunities for decision making and inquiry learning experiences.
Through cooperative learning groups, students select materials, strategize, and develop works based on specific criteria. Critical thinking and problem solving are promoted and required to make artifacts that exemplify the curriculum components.
Each student in the MTD Academy brings their own unique styles and interests to this one-of-a-kind program to enhance the rich curriculum that only Bartow Elementary School can offer.
