Coastal Middle School is proud to be an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme World School. Our students are provided with an exciting and challenging educational experience through a variety of hands-on, minds-on lessons and activities. Technology is a big part of our instructional day.
The school day begins at 7:45am and ends each day at 2:45pm. It is critical for students to be in their homeroom class no later than 7:40am each day so that they are prepared to begin the instructional day.
All students are assigned to a team of teachers at each grade level. Each 6th grade team consists of a math teacher, an English Language Arts teacher, a science teacher and a Humanities teacher. The students will also have a math enrichment teacher and a Humanities enrichment teacher. Each 7th and 8th grade team consists of a math teacher, an ELA teacher, a science teacher, a Humanities teacher and a Spanish teacher.
Students will also have two connections classes per semester using an A/B scheduling model. As an IB MYP World School we schedule students to ensure that they participate in at least one connections class from the technology offerings, one class from the arts and one health/PE class during each academic year.
