PTA’s Mission and Purpose:

The overall purpose of PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

What is PTA?

National PTA® comprises millions of families, students, teachers, administrators, and business and community leaders devoted to the educational success of children and the promotion of parent involvement in schools.

PTA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit association that prides itself on being a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for public education. Membership in PTA is open to anyone who wants to be involved and make a difference for the education, health, and welfare of children and youth.

PTA Values

  • Collaboration: We will work in partnership with a wide array of individuals and organizations to broaden and enhance our ability to serve and advocate for all children and families.
  • Commitment: We are dedicated to children’s educational success, health, and well-being through strong family and community engagement, while remaining accountable to the principles upon which our association was founded.
  • Diversity: We acknowledge the potential of everyone without regard, including but not limited to: age, culture, economic status, educational background, ethnicity, gender, geographic location, legal status, marital status, mental ability, national origin, organizational position, parental status, physical ability, political philosophy, race, religion, sexual orientation, and work experience.
  • Respect: We value the individual contributions of members, employees, volunteers, and partners as we work collaboratively to achieve our association’s goals.
  • Accountability: All members, employees, volunteers, and partners have a shared responsibility to align their efforts toward the achievement of our association’s strategic initiatives.

PTA & Family Engagement:

Building Partnerships are vital to the success of Gould Elementary. Gould PTA follows the PTA’s National Standards for Family-School Partnership in the following ways:

1.  Welcoming all families. Signs to welcome parents, programs developed to help parents, and supporting the Gould Parent Center are a few ways Gould PTA is working to make sure our families know they ARE important.

2.  Communicating effectively. Gould PTA is always striving to improve communication. Through bi-lingual event flyers, monthly newsletters, email alerts, and PTA meetings we do our best to make sure Parents are kept up to date with all things happening at Gould.

3.  Supporting student success. Gould PTA purchases school communication folders, student agendas, and items for students in need. We work together with teachers improve understanding of county and state promotion requirements, and work with students on character development in support of the Gator Buck program and sponsoring the Student of the Month at Gould.

4.  Speaking up for every child. Gould PTA members attend local board meetings and events. We advocate for students within the school and on national, state, and local levels. Everyone is welcome to become a PTA member and to speak up for all children too.

5.  Sharing power. Gould PTA works with teachers and administrators at Gould to develop programs to promote the welfare of all students and families. We support all programs, both PTA and non-PTA, at Gould. We work with all branches of the Government to help promote the welfare of all children.

6.  Collaborating with the community. We work with school, community and faith-based leaders on local, state, and national levels to develop programs and events for all students. We value all opinions and have a variety of community partners who are members of Gould PTA. Community programs include Kroger Community Rewards®, Box Tops 4 Education®, Amazon Smile®, Coke Rewards®, etc.
