Greetings from Mrs. Kerry Coursey, Principal of Islands High School
I am excited about the opportunity to serve as the Principal of Islands High School. As a long time resident of the islands area and an educator with more than 22 years experience in school leadership I know that working together we can take Islands High School to new heights. Our enrollment continues to grow and we are excited to have so many new students attending Islands High School.
The academic offerings at Islands High provide a wide variety of options and opportunities for our students. A full range of honors and Advanced Placement courses are available. We also offer a full compliment of courses in the visual and performing arts.
Islands High School students are excelling at school and in the community through participation in many of the clubs, activities and sports that are available. We are also very excited about the addition of the new science lab classrooms and athletic facilities that opened at the beginning of the 2015-26 school year. The new athletic facilities include a 1,200 seat gymnasium, 2,400 square foot weight room, physical education and varsity sports locker rooms, training room and two health classrooms. This addition expanded our school building by nearly 35,000 square feet. The cafeteria was also completely renovated during the summer of 2015. The former gymnasium was converted into a 450 seat Performance Hall/Auditorium. A new outdoor athletic complex/stadium will be completed by January 2020. This facility will include a SprinTurf field marked for football, soccer and lacrosse and an 8 lane track.
We are proud of the accomplishments of the Islands High School faculty, staff and students during the first nine years and look forward to even greater success in the years to come.
