To help the nurse serve your child better please let her know if your child has allergies or illnesses or serious medical conditions such as seizures, asthma, frequent headaches or any other condition that may require medical attention during school hours. Additionally, please let her know if your child takes routine medications at home.
Feel free to contact the nurse should you have questions or comments! The health clinic is open each school day from 8:25 a.m. until 3:10 p.m. Thank you for making this a healthy and happy school year!
Sincerely,

Important Reminders:
-The board policy states that students can not carry medication to or from school, including cough drops. Parents need to bring medication to me and sign it in. Cough drops are a choking hazard, so I keep them in the clinic and verify with the student that they are not going to recess or PE.
-Another board policy is that students must stay home for 24 hours after having a fever of 100 or higher or throwing up. Please keep students home until fever free and nausea free for 24 hours without medication.
-Head lice are common in school aged children. Please remind students not to share brushes, hats, scarves, etc. The policy on head lice is that students can not be in school with live lice. If a child has lice, parents need to treat the hair and check students before returning to school. The lice shampoo kills the live lice; however, there are still ‘nits’ in the hair. The nits are the eggs and will hatch lice if they aren’t picked off the hair strand. Nits need to be taken off the hair strand to prevent more live lice. Upon returning to school students need to visit me to check their hair and make sure there are no live lice.
The home environment needs to be clear of lice and nits as well. Wash all beddings and towels daily, put stuffed animals away (preferably in a garbage bag) for at least 2 weeks, and don’t share combs and brushes. Unfortunately it takes a lot of effort to get rid of lice.

Anytime a student is seen by a doctor and misses school please bring a excuse from the doctor. That helps with our attendance requirements.
When a student has strep throat he/she must be on an antibiotic for a full 24 hours before returning to school. Also if your child throws up during the night or in the morning before school please do NOT send them to school.
