Pre-K Week Visitor

To celebrate Georgia's Pre-K program and its 20th anniversary, State Representative Dr. Ben Watson visited Marshpoint Elementary School on Monday, October 1st.
October 1st-5th marks Georgia's second observance of Pre-K Week, sponsored by Voices for Georgia's children and its Pre-K week partners (see poster above). Representative Watson is one of nearly 140 officials who visited many of the approximately 3,800 Pre-K classrooms located in counties across Georgia.
While at Marshpoint, Representative Watson read Pete the Cat: Rocking in my School Shoes to the Pre-K students, took a tour of the school, talked with the staff, and got a close-up look at the many ways that Marshpoint is supporting early learning.

Several Marshpoint teachers were surprised with Wal-mart gift cards on September 28th. Wal-mart donated $50 gift cards to the school. Teachers' names were randomly drawn to receive the gift cards. Wal-mart also donated a cake for the entire faculty. Wal-mart is one of Marshpoint's business partners.

Third grade students celebrated their annual Greek Week to culminate their unit on Greece and its influence on our government.
