My name is Renee Nelson and this is my 30th year of teaching in Savannah Chatham County Public Schools. I am so honored to be Marshpoint’s teacher of the year for the 2020-2021 school year. I have taught at Marshpoint since it opened in 1997. I have taught in kindergarten through 4th grade homeroom classes as well as serving as Gifted education teacher, testing coordinator, academic Coach, and most recently science, technology, arts, and math lab teacher where I teach all grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Beginning the first STEAM lab at the school has been challenging, exciting, and just fun! I believe that making learning hands- on, interesting, and keeping kids engaged are the keys to making connections that will last. I love my job and can’t even imagine doing anything else as a career. There are always surprises and I can’t wait to see what is next.
