Halloween Hike                                                                                                                  Friday and Saturday October 19 &20                                          Admission:   Adults $5.00; Children $10.00

5:00pm-8:00pm (Last hike leaves at 8:00!)  

This is a fun, safe, not-so-scare event for your little trick-or-treaters.  Walk with your trickster down our friendly forest trail to meet and gather goodies from out friendly characters.  Face painting, spooky crafts, educational amazement and many more monstrous activities await your arrival.  Comfortable walking shoes and costumes are encouraged.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Harvest Festival and Cane Grinding                                                                           Saturday, November 17, 2018                                                      Admission:  Adults $7.00; Children $5.00


Join us at our heritage home site for the sights, sounds and smells of autumn.   Learn all about cane production from the grinding to the boil!  Take home some locally grown and processed cane syrup.  Participate in cabin life activities; play some old fashioned games; and make a fall craft.  There is something for everyone.  Don't miss out on this old time, educational fundraising festival.


 Open Fire Cooking Workshop

Whet your appetite for open fire cooking! Enjoy a five course meal that you have prepared throughout the day, along with learning such things as choosing and caring for cast iron cookware, various cooking techniques, fire wood selection and curing, recipes and more. This workshop will be open to anyone 12 years and older, but register early, space is limited to the first
25 paid registrants. Registration is required.

Super Museum Sunday

A Savannah tradition! Museums all over the area will open their doors from 12 noon until 4 p.m. and offer free admission for the day. This annual event is sponsored by the Georgia Historical Society to encourage the public to take advantage of these wonderful resources. FUNdamentals of Beekeeping Workshop

Did you know that 1/3 of everything you eat is a result of honey bee pollination? Humankind depends on these fascinating animals for food, as well as many other hive products that improve our health and wellbeing. But honey bees face many challenges in today’s world. Both hobby and professional beekeepers are needed to help maintain the populations of this vital creature. This day-long beekeeping school will seek to help advance the knowledge base of both novice and experienced beekeepers alike. So, catch the buzz and get ready for the gardening season and spring nectar flow! Open to anyone over the age of 12. Registration is required.


Spring Celebration & Sheep Shearing                                                                                                      Saturday  March 9, 2019                                                                            Regular Admission + some for fee                      10:00am-4:00pm     

From the sheep’s body to the finished wool product! Observe and participate in the magical creation of a woolen shawl through all the stages of wool processing. Members of The Fiber Guild of the Savannah’s join Oatland staff and volunteers in making this traditional spring celebration fun for the whole family. The Oatland sheep will be sheared throughout the day with demonstrations of carding, spinning, dying and weaving the wool. Crafts, games, hay rides and other children’s activities as well as food concessions will be available. 

Fairy & Gnome Festival
Saturday, May 4, 2019                                                                                     Regular Admission + some for fee

Join us for a day of enchantment! This family-themed festival is all about the “wee folk” getting up close with the natural world and encouraging imaginative outdoor play. Dress in costume and flaunt your wings in our fashion show; mine for magic gems; frolic in the enchanted forest for a fairy surprise; construct a fairy village; enjoy games and crafts inspired by the natural world. Bring the whole family and stroll through Oatland’s magical trails and maybe you will catch a glimpse of a fairy or gnome looking for a place to call home. Additional fees may apply and all proceeds go to feeding our magical animal kingdom!
