Principal's Welcome Message
Dear SWES Gator Parents and Community Members,

As the new principal at Southwest Elementary I have had many wonderful opportunities to meet many of our parents and our business partners during some of our beginning of the year events and during student drop off and pick up. It is a pleasure to lead a school with a strong partnership between parents, community members and educators. I look forward to continuing and strengthening these relationships and working with teachers and staff to ensure your children continue to develop a passion for learning and have tools they need to be prepared for productive futures. Parent involvement has a tremendous impact on how children do in school and I encourage you as parents to keep informed on what happens on a day to day basis at Southwest Elementary by checking the SWES webpage http://swes.sccpss.com , becoming a part of our Parent Teacher Association and by receiving quick updates, information and photos that share the wonderful activities your children are engaged in each day add @SWESGators1 to your Twitter account.

I grew up in Rochester, New York and began teaching in Albany, New York before relocating to Miami, Florida to continue teaching and begin my family. I most recently returned from eleven years abroad working at two prestigious, nationally recognized American Schools within Mexico while raising two incredible children. I have been in the field of education for more than twenty years with a specific area of interest in reading and literacy intervention. My administrative experiences and vision has been shaped by nine years as an Elementary and Middle School Principal and two years as an Elementary Assistant Principal. I consider myself to be a positive, hands on instructional leader who enjoys working collaboratively to ensure the success of every child within our school community.

As a school leader you can feel confident that my decisions are always based on doing what is best for your children’s academic, social and emotional well- being. I feel fortunate to have this opportunity to be a part of the SWES Gator community and look forward to many more opportunities to meet parents and community members in the upcoming months. I encourage you to stop by the office, get involved and be proactive partners in your child’s education. Together we really can make a difference!

Regards,
