Welcome to School Year 2016-2017! The first day of school is August 3, 2016. We have a new school start time. The tardy bell will ring at 9:15. The school opens for students at 8:55 and breakfast will be served until 9:10. The school day ends at 4:00. Early dismissal will end each day at 3:15, so please plan accordingly if you need to pick your child up early.

West Chatham Elementary School is dedicated to creating a meaningful, enjoyable and successful learning experience for you child. We promise to provide:

  1. Small group instruction targeted at student needs
  2. Daily instruction that makes learning engaging
  3.  Recognition for student achievement and success
  4.  School wide events
  5.  Frequent communication about your child and school information

However, we can’t be successful in our endeavors without your partnership. A team approach between parent and school helps children succeed. Here are some things you can do to help us:

  1. Be sure your child attends school daily, arrives on time, ready to learn
  2. Make homework an after school priority
  3. Be sure your child is dressed according to the dress code each day
  4. Talk with your children about school experience  Ask about specifics such as, “What did you learn in Social Studies today?” Encourage reading as an activity for relaxation and enjoyment .
  5. Use Parent Connect to keep up to date on your child’s grades
  6. Tell your child your expectations for their education

We welcome you as an active partner in our school. Please consider volunteering if your time allows. Volunteers help in a variety of ways from reading with children, assisting in the media center, assisting with class projects and many other ways. We look forward to another great school year with the best students anywhere. It’s going to be a great year at W.C.E.S., Where Courageous Eagles Soar.
