What Is The Early Childhood Education Pathway?
If you enjoy working with children, Early Childhood Education is the Career Pathway for you!
The Early Childhood Education Pathway at Woodville Tompkins Technical & Career High School prepares students for employment and services in Early Childhood Education. Through the use of class time and lab experiences, students learn about the development of children through physical, cognitive, creative, social, emotional, and moral developmental stages. The pathway also provides a foundation for advanced study leading to postsecondary education and careers in related fields.
Experience
At Woodville Tompkins Technical & Career High School we house a Pre-K class where students have an opportunity to work and interact with young children on a regular basis.
While working in the Pre-K lab, students have the opportunity to observe how children behave and interact socially, physically, and emotionally. Students also have the opportunity to plan their own activities to do with the Pre-K students.
Students also have the opportunity to experience taking care of a newborn infant, by using the RealCare Baby. The Real Care Baby is a simulation doll that helps students practice caring for a real new born. The Real Care Baby keeps a schedule just like a newborn infant.
